Election Commission Revises SIR Schedule in Five States and Delhi, Extends Voter Claims Deadlines

Maharashtra voters can submit claims and objections until November 13, while Delhi gets time until November 25. Final electoral rolls are scheduled for November 30 and December 22, respectively.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in five states and the National Capital Territory of Delhi, providing additional time for specific stages of the voter-list revision process.

The revised schedule covers Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Telangana and Nagaland, along with Delhi. The changes include extensions for filing claims and objections in Maharashtra and Delhi, while the notice and disposal stages have also been updated in several states.

Maharashtra and Delhi Get Extended Deadlines

In Maharashtra, the deadline for filing claims and objections has been extended to November 13, 2026, from the earlier date of October 26. The notice and disposal process will continue until November 25, with the final electoral roll scheduled for publication on November 30.

Delhi has also received an extension. Voters can now submit claims and objections until November 25, instead of October 30. The notice and disposal process will continue until December 15, and the final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on December 22, 2026.

Revised SIR Schedule: State-wise Dates

State / UT Notice & Disposal Deadline Final Electoral Roll
Maharashtra November 25 November 30
Andhra Pradesh November 20 November 30
Haryana November 20 November 30
Telangana November 26 November 30
Nagaland November 25 November 30
Delhi December 15 December 22

Why Was the Delhi Schedule Extended?

The revised timeline for Delhi follows the Supreme Court’s direction asking the Election Commission to consider additional time for the electoral-roll revision exercise. The extension is intended to provide more time for the claims and objections process.

Forms Voters Should Know About

Voters participating in the revision process should use the appropriate Election Commission forms for their requests:

  • Form 6: Application for inclusion of a name in the electoral roll.
  • Form 7: Objection to the inclusion of a name or request for deletion, as applicable.
  • Form 8: Application for correction or modification of electoral-roll entries.

Voters should verify the applicable procedure and submission deadlines through the Election Commission’s official channels and their respective state Chief Electoral Officer websites.

What Happens Next?

The revised schedule gives election authorities additional time to process applications, examine objections and address discrepancies in the electoral rolls. The final publication dates will be an important milestone in the ongoing revision exercise across the six jurisdictions.

Eligible voters are advised to check their electoral details carefully and submit any necessary applications within the revised deadlines.
